During a particularly heavy caregiving year, I remember sitting in my dimly lit dining room with a cup of tea, trying to breathe through the pressure in my chest.

I was doing everything “right”…
yet I still felt like I was disappearing.

One day, after finishing a caregiving shift for my aging mother-in-law, I caught my reflection in the hallway mirror — tired, puffy eyes, hair barely pinned back — and whispered:

“Milan, when was the last time you took care of YOU?”

That whisper became a lifeline.
It pulled me toward softness again… toward rituals, movement, journaling, music, creativity, boundaries, and nourishment.

I slowly began reclaiming my emotional steadiness.
And it changed everything.
