3 Chic Lifestyle Changes That Helped Me Finally End Burnout
Oct 02, 2025Burnout doesn’t show up all at once—it builds slowly. Long days, endless responsibilities, and the belief that you just need to “push through” can leave you feeling drained and disconnected from yourself.
I know this because I’ve been there.
As a woman who has worn many hats—a corporate professional, model, French-speaking guide, cooking instructor, chef, and wellness coach—I reached a point where I was running on empty.
But here’s the truth: I didn’t overcome burnout by doing more. I ended it by quitting the very things that were quietly stealing my energy.
And when I let them go, life opened up with more balance, joy, and chic simplicity. Here are the 3 lifestyle changes that finally helped me end burnout—and how you can try them, too.'
My Career Change Journey
Before I dive into the 3 changes, let me share a bit about my path. My journey hasn’t been a straight line—it’s been an evolution of reinvention.
I spent 18 years with FedEx Corporation, learning discipline, structure, and the demands of corporate life. Alongside that, I worked as a part-time commercial print model in downtown Chicago, always balancing two worlds: business and beauty.
Later, I transitioned into healthcare, working 3 years at a chiropractic office in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, where I learned how stress and lifestyle directly impact health.
My love for the French language and culture even led me to serve as a French-speaking guide for international delegates—a role that opened my eyes to global wellness philosophies.
Eventually, my passion for food and lifestyle brought me to The Chopping Block Recreational Cooking School, where I spent 4 exciting years teaching people how to cook with joy and confidence.
From there, I built my own Wellness Coaching and Personal Chef business, blending culinary arts with holistic wellness.
But even with all these experiences, I hit a wall. Burnout caught up with me.
And that’s when I had to make some serious changes.
1. I Quit the Hustle Mentality
For years, I believed that success meant being busy 24/7. Whether it was corporate deadlines, modeling gigs, or running a business, I was always on the go. I glorified hustle.
But that mindset left me exhausted and unfulfilled. When I finally let go of the idea that busyness equals worth, I discovered something powerful: rest fuels success.
Now, I create space for buffers in my day. I close my laptop by 4 PM. I allow myself to pause, breathe, and recharge. Ironically, the less I push, the more creative and productive I become.
If you’ve been measuring your value by how much you can accomplish in a day, try giving yourself permission to rest. Rest isn’t laziness—it’s chic, intentional living.
2. I Quit Eating on Autopilot
Stress eating was once my norm. I’d grab snacks on the go, sugary treats, or anything fast just to keep up with my schedule. Food was fuel, not pleasure.
But that habit only made my burnout worse. My energy crashed, I felt heavy, and I lost my connection to the joy of eating.
As a chef and wellness coach, I knew I had to shift. So I returned to the philosophy of quality over quantity.
Think ripe tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, roasted almonds, or a square of dark chocolate savored slowly.
Cooking became self-care again. Instead of rushing, I embraced simple, chic meals that nourished both body and soul. Eating intentionally restored my energy and reminded me that food should be a daily pleasure.
If you feel drained, start small. Slow down, sit at the table, and savor one chic, wholesome meal a day.
3. I Quit Saying Yes to Everything
This was the hardest lesson of all. As women, we’re conditioned to say yes—even when it costs us our peace.
Every yes I gave others was a quiet no to myself.
The truth is, boundaries are beautiful. Saying no doesn’t mean you don’t care—it means you value your energy and wellbeing.
When I started saying no gracefully, I gained back time for what I loved most—studying French, practicing violin, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea.
And guess what?
The people who truly mattered respected those boundaries.
If guilt keeps you from setting boundaries, remember this: every time you honor yourself, you model healthy living for others. Boundaries aren’t walls—they’re doors to a more balanced life.
Why These 3 Lifestyle Changes Matter
Burnout doesn’t end by adding more to your plate. It ends when you release the habits that drain you.
For me, that meant quitting the hustle mentality, eating on autopilot, and overcommitting.
Letting go wasn’t easy, but it created space for joy, creativity, and true wellness.
These lifestyle changes helped me transform—not just my schedule, but my entire approach to living.
They brought me back to myself.
