Daily Routine for Women Over 50: How to Feel Energized Instead of Drained

Aug 29, 2025

Let me tell you something, sis—I used to think I had to force myself into routines that just didn’t fit me. You know, those “5 a.m. hustle” mornings or twelve-hour workdays that everyone online makes look so glamorous.

But every time I tried to push myself into that mold, I just ended up drained, overwhelmed, and questioning why it worked for everyone else but not me. I was a morning person once when I worked as a FedEx courier with a work schedule that started at 6 am. That lasted for 7 years and I was done with that hustle.

And then I discovered something about myself: I’m a Human Design Projector. And sis, if you’ve been feeling the same kind of exhaustion from over-giving, over-working, and constantly pouring out more than you have to give—you might relate, even if you’re not a Projector by design.

Projectors thrive when they honor their energy, and honestly I think women over 50—especially those of us juggling caregiving, personal dreams, and just wanting to live with more intention—can learn so much from a Projector-friendly way of structuring life.

If this idea is new to you, I won't go deep into it because you can just Google it.

in the blog post we'll talk about creating a routine that doesn’t burn you out, but instead helps you live intentionally, savor the everyday, and still have energy for the people you love (including yourself).

Why the “Hustle” Routine Doesn’t Work for Us

Sis, remember when we were younger and we could run on four hours of sleep and a couple cups of coffee? Yeah, those days are over—and honestly, I don’t miss them.

Projectors (and women like us) don’t thrive in go-go-go, back-to-back-to-back schedules. We’re not designed to be doingall the time. We’re at our best when we focus, go deep on a few things that matter, and then allow space to rest and recharge.

That’s why so many routines you see online don’t feel right. They’re built on constant output. But intentional living requires us to slow down, to choose carefully, and to leave space for reflection.

The Heart of a Projector-Friendly Routine

The key is simplicity. Instead of trying to cram everything into your day, think about your top 3 priorities—both for life and work—and let everything else flow around them.

Here’s what that might look like:

  1. Morning Ritual (Not a Rush)
You don’t need to jump out of bed and run. Instead, start with something grounding—coffee or tea by the window, journaling a few lines, or reading something inspiring. As a Projector, mornings are less about doing and more about aligning. Ask yourself: What do I really need today?

  2. Work/Creative Hours (Keep it Short)
We don’t have endless energy, and that’s okay. Two to four focused hours of meaningful work is enough. For me, that’s creating content for YouTube or writing. For you, it might be something else. The key is focus. Quality over quantity.

  3. Midday Pause (Yes, Permission to Rest)
Sis, let’s normalize resting at midday. That could mean stretching out with a book, a short nap, or taking a mindful walk. This is not laziness—it’s strategy. When we recharge, we show up better for the second half of our day.

  4. Evening Wind-Down (No Hustle Energy Here)
Evenings are for connection and calm. Light a candle, make a simple nourishing dinner, talk with a loved one, or take a warm shower. End your day the way you want to feel tomorrow: peaceful, intentional, and cared for.

Building in Space for Self-Care

Sis, I know you—you’re always giving to others. But here’s what I’ve learned the hard way: if you don’t give to yourself first, you run out of fuel.

That’s why I build self-care into my routine the same way I build in meals. It’s non-negotiable. A Projector-friendly self-care moment doesn’t have to be fancy—it could be a skincare ritual, listening to music you love, practicing French for 15 minutes, or pulling out your violin for a few soulful notes. The point is, it fills you back up.

Permission to Do Less (And Live More)

Let me whisper something that took me years to accept: You don’t have to prove your worth by how much you do.

Living intentionally means choosing what to do with clarity and letting the rest go. For me, that looks like:

  • Top 3 business tasks before 4 PM. That’s it. After that, I shift into home and family mode.

  • Top 3 personal tasks each day. Could be as simple as cooking a fresh meal, organizing one drawer, or taking a long bath.

That’s all I can hold, and that’s all I need to hold. And when I stop trying to do it all, I actually feel more fulfilled.

A Weekly Flow That Supports You

Here’s a rhythm I love (and you can tweak it for yourself):

  • Monday: Creative day (writing, planning, recording).

  • Tuesday: Production or focused work (editing, marketing).

  • Wednesday: Rest and reset (laundry, slower pace, maybe a walk).

  • Thursday: Learning and growth (reading, studying French, journaling).

  • Friday: Life admin (bills, organizing, tying up loose ends).

  • Weekend: Connection, rest, and joy.

Notice how there’s breathing room? That’s what keeps us from burning out

Living With Intention Is the Chic Way

Sis, at the end of the day, intentional living isn’t about rigid routines or copying someone else’s lifestyle. It’s about creating rhythms that honor your energy, your values, and your season of life.

Think of it like curating your home—you choose pieces that reflect who you are, not just what’s trendy. Same goes for your routine. A Projector-friendly rhythm means saying no to what drains you, yes to what lights you up, and leaving space for life’s surprises.

Your Invitation

So, what would it look like for you to create a Projector-friendly routine for yourself, even if you’re not technically a Projector? Maybe it means starting your mornings slower. Maybe it’s giving yourself permission to rest at midday. Or maybe it’s finally letting go of the idea that you have to do all the things to matter.

I want you to remember this: intentional living is less about what you fit into your day, and more about how you feel living it.
