Grocery shopping, long hours at work, deadlines to meet, family to connect with…does the list of to-dos ever end?
After a long day of work and “stuff”, the last thing on my mind is trying figuring out what to cook at home.
It would be much quicker to order out or try the new restaurant that just opened up.
How do the French do it and seem so confortable around food?

in long meetings or have to travel frequently
I understand and have been there when emotional eating seems to just get out of control, which can lead to unwanted changes in how your body looks.
So many of my friends are French and I look at them just wondering how do they do it.
I didn't think about this much until after I turned 40 and after 50 I found myself stuck in the house because of Covid19.
Then I thought...French women must be experiencing the covid19 weight gain which for an American women seems like a constant struggle.
For us it's a never ending love hate relationship trying to maintain our weight that we loved just 5 years previous before it was a never ending battle.
To top it off any additional weight shifts, especially after menopause which can change the way your clothes fit you completely.
No worries, just another opportunity to go shopping. Right?
Not that we don’t love this activity but this just may not be the extra time that you have this month.
It's even tough for women who don't have the access to the foods and opportunities for exercise that I do here in Chicago, New York and Parisian women have especially if you live in a rural area.
So what can you do to eat better, feel more in control like French women so that you can finally take control and manage your weight?
Look to your kitchen for answers
Cooking has been my secret ingredient working with my clients now. Showing them how to cook with diverse spices, fresh herbs, and learning how to live healthy without dieting like a French women does.
There are so many wonderful foods that you can create with a few key ingredients, which I have observed with my French friends. These key ingredients have become staples in my kitchen and I don't waste food when I am prepared.

“Successful Cooking doesn’t rely on know-how; it comes from the Heart, makes great demands on the palate and needs enthusiasm and a deep love of food to bring it to life”.
When you really reflect on your eating habits and weight loss goals there is a huge connection. For French women this is a lifestyle habit that they culturally learn.
Think about these 2 question carefully because your habits can be good or bad, but in this post, we are only going to consider the good eating habits.
I want you to be in control of your eating no matter where you dine and not the other way around.
Can you expect your body and mind to function properly if it is not fueled by the right foods?
How efficient do you think your metabolism will work for you if you spend a lot of time sitting?
Here is how to make your body your friend?
Plan out your menu before shopping
Take grocery list with you to the market
Never go to the market hungry
Stick to your planned menu
Take a lunch as often as possible
Sometimes it appears as if French women are able to drop weight quickly within a matter of days when they start planning for Summer vacation.
Even the ones who have post-pregnancy weight gain, lose it within a matter of months.
However, studies show that individuals who lose weight slowly are more likely to maintain their weight loss over time as opposed to individuals who lose it quickly.
It may look like quick weight loss to you, but they were working on their body long before you saw the transformation.
Learn to reduce your weekly indulgences until you don't crave them anymore.
Our weekly drink of the day should not be a grandee café mocha with 2 shots of espresso early in the morning and think that will hold you until lunchtime.
Slowly start to wean yourself off of high-calorie drinks.
Perhaps start with reducing 1 per week so you won’t have any negative side effects which include headaches.
Then once you gain control, you can still have it as an occasional treat if you like.
When you are ready to adopt better eating habits the important thing is to remember if you do anything for 21 days it automatically becomes a habit.
