Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered what happened to the size you felt the best wearing? I remember a time when “healthy living” was not a part of my thinking or vocabulary. In fact, as a chic woman over 40 I was not “comfortable in my skin” at all, even though it didn’t appear that way from the outside.
As women we know how to hide our flaws and our insecurities right?
A DECADE OF TIME GONE BY
Just recently, I was reflecting on a quote that I read some years ago, it said “you can change without growing– but you can’t GROW WITHOUT CHANGING!”.
That was the quote that literally encouraged me to take the leap into having my own business.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered what happened to the size when you felt your best. Or will my life be relegated to medication for the rest of my life?
I know exactly how you feel. After I pasted the age of 40 my body started changing with every experience that I had in life. From the death of a close love one (emotional eater), to working late evenings (late night snacker), to husband being unemployed and having to move from our condo (stressful eater).
I got to a point where I just didn’t feel “comfortable in my skin” at all, even though it didn’t appear that way from the outside looking in. My weight gain was causing me to feel insecure about myself.
To top it off because of high stress levels from work, I began to suffer from debilitating headaches. This sent me running to the ER because the pain was so excruciating.
Life wasn’t always like that. There was a time when “healthy living” was not a part of my thinking or even vocabulary. In fact, as a woman who embodies the essence of being chic, I was not “comfortable in my skin” at all. Even though it didn’t appear that way from the outside looking in. It doesn’t matter what you look like externally, if you don’t feel it inside–that makes a huge difference.
I HAD ANGELA BASSETT ARMS
I was a FedEx truck driver and proud of my ‘Angela Bassett‘ looking muscles! But sadly after I left 18 years I decided it was time to leave FedEx Express in 2006. As time passed I slowly lost my muscle mass. This lead to putting on weight in places I didn’t want.
The size that I loved was disappearing before my eyes. But the problem is that, I didn’t even notice it. What I didn’t realize was my hormone levels was changing as I aged.
In all honestly, I have never been ‘obese’ but have gone up and down like a seesaw from 10lbs to 20lbs here and there, Guess what? It does make a difference in how you feel about yourself and how you look.
I found myself with twenty extra pounds, mostly on my backside and tummy, which are the two places that’s hard to miss on most women. This weight was a result of being fatigue, dining out and food cravings.
To get it off quick I would fast, do quick detoxes or go on a short diet. But the problem was that it was never sustainable, because I had to continually do it over and over again. Where is the fun in eating like that?
Besides, over time this can wreak havoc on your body and your digestive health. I’m a woman who loves great food, fine wine plus traveling…chic living.
Until I figured out what really works for my body to keep weight manageable and inflammation at bay. I found my happy weight and more importantly, found peace and created a life I love living?
SIZE CHANGE THAT NEEDED TO HAPPEN
In order to balance my hormone levels to see transformative weight loss; I had to start was what I was unconsciously allowing to pass through my lips. This is key to weight loss.
Exploring your body with a holistic view, as to how to balance your hormone levels which your systems are functioning (ex: kidneys, digestion, liver, intestines). Only then was can bigger adjustments, be made.
