This week I have been mulling over how to make my 90-day weight loss better. Based on the needs of my clients, 90 days just doesn’t seem to be enough time to see the results that they desire. If you have been on this health journey for a while and is tired the yo-yo effect and feeling frustrated.
Frustrated that no matter what you do nothing seems to work that moves the numbers on the scale. Because of this cycle, you go back to your old lifestyle that seemed a lot easier and less stressful.
After reading several experiences that came through my yahoo news feed, which I have included in this article for you. I had an epiphany! To restructure my 90-day program so that you start to see changes early on which will serve to help you maintain your weight over the long duration. I want you to cease any negative feelings that you have about your body image.
Don’t Trust A Lier
When you step on your scale at home or even at your doctor’s office, all hope of getting to your ideal size goes out the window. Stepping on a scale sends your mind in a frenzy of thought of how and when did you gain so much weight. Trying on clothes…forget it. It used to give me a high but I have noticed a trend, sizes change with each designer. So you begin to question if you ate a few too much over the last season.
Negative feelings that surface when you try on clothes or step on a scale can be replaced with positive thoughts of how you want to look as you begin to feel healthier. I can truly identify with this emotion because not long ago I was an emotional eater which caused me to gain weight. The reason I was an emotional eater is because I was a part time care give to my sweet grandmaman. Food seemed to calm my nerves.
Since I don’t believe in dieting, the weight didn’t come off as easy as I imagined it would. But after careful menu planning, eating frequently plus more vegetables added in. The weight started to come off.
How would you feel if..?
You lost just 10lbs how would that motivate you?
What would you wear that you can’t wear now?
How would you like to feel in your new outfit?
Many emotions about body image are feelings that have developed early in your life. Perhaps it started later when you hit close to fifty since it seems that is the age that we tend to put on weight based on the fluctuations in our hormone levels
It can be quite depressing when you see others that started on the same journey with you, lose and you don’t. This can be extremely discouraging even when you know that you are doing everything right. If that has been the source of your discouragement, today I want you to take heart and fret no more. In this article I am going to unveiled some good news to you about your scale and how it’s been lying to you!
Here is what I tell my clients when they start coaching with me, on their journey of transformation, “don’t step on the scale, let your clothes be your judge”. Why is that? The scale will lie to you every time. It is not an accurate view of your body shape and how it is restructuring itself.
On a scale, muscle weighs more than fat. So just to give you a visual, here are 3 different women with different body shapes on the same path. The path is to experience lifestyle changes and see a transformation, big or small.
In picture no. #1
This woman more than likely incorporated cardio to lose weight initially but it didn’t give her the definition she was looking for. It made her lean but not sculpts. Do you notice how her weight changed? The 3rd photo of her is a huge difference compared to the middle photo. Imagine getting on scale frustrated thinking, “I haven’t lost any weight just gained it”. In the 3rd image of her, it is clear that muscle is where her weight lies.
Nutrition plays the primary role in any weight loss regimen. Hands down, there is no other way! Afterward adding in supplements and exercising consistently.
Photo No. #2
It is evident there is not much of a difference in the numbers when looking at the scale 62 kg and 64kg. But the photos show how her body composition changed. This is why I also tell my clients it takes time. Everyone is bio-chemically different and these photos should be enough proof for you. Young or older it doesn’t matter, the body will show progress at its own due time…just be consistent and patient.
Photo no. #3
I know you are not going to like this but look at the time frame and look at the pounds. It took 10 months for this woman to see curves starting to show.
How does this make you feel? Think about what must have gone through her mind after 5 months. Perhaps she had some setback. We don’t know what reason that she started her journey.
Was it to be more confident? To finally be able to wear clothes that she truly desires? Or maybe she had health issues. Whatever her reason she persevered and didn’t give up.
Does it empower your or make you discouraged? If you notice the photo on the right her legs and thighs are bigger. She also has more definition in her shoulders and arms in the right photo. Plus what every woman wants a small waist line. Everyone’s body responds differently to weight loss.
If you feel discouraged, then you are looking for a quick fix which doesn’t last. In order to burn calories, you have to put them in, which means eating more meals each day. At most 6 healthy nutritionally balanced meals each day. You have to trust the process!
Weight is just a number, scales lie
As I said, everyone is different and so many variables can affect the desired outcome. I have decided to restructure my 90-day Chic Women Don’t Diet’ Body Restructuring to 16 Weeks. Since weight loss is a transformation, rushing through it for special occasions and not reaching your goal only leads to frustration. I feel that 16 weeks is enough time for you to nurture yourself. Weight loss is a by-product of healthy living.
